Portable Easy-to-install anti-theft security system

Everyone is entitled to protect one’s assets. Enforcement of that right usually involves high cost and requires one to be technically savvy. Most of the anti-theft security system available in the market requires professional installation and are highly customized to suit a particular need. However, a novel cost-effective security system based on flexible conductive plastics (nonconjugated conductive polymers) has now been developed that is highly efficient and so simple to install that it can be used in a wide range of scenarios.

This system consists of a thin-film sensor and a small control unit connected by means of a cable. The flexible plastic sensor can take the shape of any surface that it is applied on and can be completely concealed. Even for a mild pressure applied on the surface of the sensor, a buzzer in the control unit is turned on. This highly sensitive system is portable and battery operated. Hence it can be used as a stand-alone security alarm system. In cases where the value of the property to be protected is high, this system can be used as a supplemental security system to other existing anti-theft systems. The examples of applications of this security system include: automobile, home, laptops, office, business units, boxes containing expensive jewelry, valuable paintings in the museums etc.  

            This picture shows an example of one such alarm system. The black plastic sheet (sensor-actuator) turns on a siren when subjected to a pressure. The sensitivity of the sensor can be set according to the customer’s requirements. The plastic alarm module can be of any area as the customer would need (a few square inches to many square feet). The plastic sensor can be concealed under any larger cover such as paper, table-cloth, doormat, carpet, automotive seat-cover, wall-paper or other plastic covers etc. as it may be desirable.
